A bridge is defined in Wikipedia as a structure built to span a body of water, among other physical obstacles, for the purpose of providing passage over the obstacle. The bridge above is old and no longer used, brought about by the presence of a new and better one just right beside it. But the old bridge proves to be a better subject for a photograph.

Rural Outpost

Raised structures are typical in rural areas of the country, where families utilize the ground floor for other purposes including raising livestock, gardening, and storage. The structure above would be too small to be a home so it might have been set up as an outpost or a hangout.

A Cemetery in Talisay

All Saint’s Day and All Souls Day are observed on November 1 and 2 in the Philippines. Locally called “Undas” or “Kalag-kalag”, the two days are spent visiting the graves of deceased relatives, where prayers and flowers are offered, candles are lit and the graves are cleaned, repaired and repainted.

New Bridge

The Marcelo Fernan Bridge is one of two bridges that connects Mactan Island and mainland Cebu. Opened in 1999, locals still refer to it as the new bridge. It was built to ease traffic on the Mactan-Mandaue Bridge, now popularly known, as any might have guessed, as the old bridge.

Below the new bridge is a 24-hour open park, which, despite needing some improvements, offers a great view of the bridge and the Cebu strait.

Sampaloc Lake

Sampaloc lake is the largest of the seven lakes in San Pablo City, Laguna.  People frequent here not only for sightseeing but also to keep fit. Surrounding the lake is a track for hikers, joggers and bikers.

The setting sun puts on a colorful show at the edge of Day-as in Cordova, Mactan. The municipality of Cordova plans to establish an eco-tourism village in this area to showcase its extensive mangrove stands.
